2026년 새해가 밝았습니다. 하늘 복 땅의 복많이 받으시고 샬롬의 복을 누리는 복된 새해 되시기 바랍니다. 새해 첫 목회자 코너 칼럼으로 목회 협력팀에서 나눈 '새해 5가지 교회의 방향성'에 대해 나누고자 합니다.
교회의 방향성1. 심플처치 - 본질에만 집중하는 교회
이 시대 사람들은 복잡한 프로그램이나 화려한 행사에 피로감을 느낀다고 합니다. 그래서 앞으로 우리 교회는 심플하게 본질에만 집중하는 교회를 세워가려고 합니다. 우리 교회 오면 '이것 저것 할 것이 많다' 가 아니라, 우리 교회는 오직 '하나님과 만남과 안식(쉼)에만 집중한다'는 메세지를 느끼도록 사역을 재정비해 가려고 합니다. 불필요한 사역을 줄이고 대그룹의 주일예배와 소그룹의 목장모임이 더 셩경대로 실천하기 위해 노력할 것입니다. 영혼구원이 중요하기에 VIP들을 위해 주일 오후 7시 예배 또는 월요일 오전 11시 또는 월요일 오후 7시 예배를 시작해 보려고 합니다.
교회의 방향성 2. 초개인화 시대의 목회와 AI활용하는 디지컬 교회 집중
기술이 발달할수록 사람들은 '나 한 사람'에게 집중해주는 공동체를 찾는다고 합니다. 그래서 한 사람의 인생 스토리에 귀를 기울여주는 개별 맞춤형 양육을 진행하려고 합니다. 주일 아침 브런치와 주일 저녁 식사 시간을 통해 담임목사와 장로 그리고 교회 리더십들이 교우들과 교제하는 시간을 가질 예정입니다. 제가 주일에 아침 저녁으로 2팀을 만나 섬기게 되면 1달이면 8팀을 섬기게 되고 3개월이 지나면 24팀을 섬기게 될 것입니다. 그리고 장로님이 동역해 주시면 48팀을 섬기게 될 것이고, 청지기들이 모두 참여하면 96팀을 섬기게 됩니다. 저까지 포함하면 120팀을 3개월 동안 섬기게 될 것입니다. 그리고 디지컬교회 사역을 확장시켜서 인스타그램, 페이스북, 유튜브 등을 통해 교회를 알리고 누구든지 교회 공동체와 친밀감을 느낄 수 있도록 진행할 예정입니다.
3. 호모 스피리추얼리스(Homo Spiritualis, 라틴어 - 영적인 인간)의 영적 갈급함 채우기
사람들이 종교 시스템에는 거부감을 느끼지만 영적인 체험과 마음의 평안에는 어느때보다 목말라 하고 있는 시대를 우리는 살고 있습니다. 그래서 교회가 영적 갈급함을 채워줄 수 있는 기도, 묵상. 영성 훈련을 제공해 주어야 합니다.
"교회가면 마음의 병이 낫고 영적인 평안을 얻는다"는 입소문이 나도록 앞으로 치유기도와 회복사역에 집중할 필요가 있습니다. 주일마다 헌신대에서 치유기도를 진행하고, 수요일 영성기도회를 통해 영적 감각을 회복하도록 돕고, 토요일 미라클 새벽기도회를 통해 전교인이 함께 모여 합심기도하는 시간을 가지면서 목장과 주일을 준비하고, 평일 줌 미라클 새벽기도회를 통해 기적이 상식이 되고 새벽 시간이 인생을 바꾼다는 경험을 하도록 도울 예정입니다.
4. '서로 돌봄 공동체' 세워가기
목장은 가정교회이지만 이 시대에 맞게 외로움을 해결하는 현장이 되고 제자를 양성하는 훈련소가 되어야 합니다.
올해부터 '가족보다 더 가족같은 목장'과 초원이 되도록 힘쓸 것입니다. 우울증, 불안, 고립감에 빠진 사람들이 안전하게 속내를 털어 놓고 지지를 받을 수 있는 환경을 구축해 갈 것입니다. 앞으로 목장모임에 참석하는 분들에게 비밀 보장 동의서를 받고 목장모임을 진행하도록 하겠습니다. 그래서 누구든지 돌봄을 받고 있다는 느낌이 들도록 노력하겠습니다.
5. 사회적 신뢰를 바탕으로 한 '진정성'이 있는 공동체 세우기
말만 하는 복음이 아니라 삶으로 증명되는 복음으로 세상을 변화시키는 공동체가 되기 원합니다. 우리가 살고 있는 시드니 지역사회를 분석하여 우리 공동체가 섬겨야 할 사역을 재정비하도록 하겠습니다. 지역사회에서 시드니새생명교회는 우리 시드니 지역에 꼭 필요해~! 이런 인식이 들 때까지 우리는 복음적 교회를 세워가며 신약교회를 회복하는 일에 집중해 나갈 것입니다. 2026년부터 우리 교회는 더 작게, 더 깊게, 더 심플하게 움직이는 교회가 되도록 힘쓰겠습니다. 함께 동역해 주시길 부탁 드립니다.

<Issue No. 26-1> Five Directions for the Church in the New Year
The new year of 2026 has dawned. I pray that you receive abundant blessings from heaven and earth, and that you enjoy the blessing of shalom in this new year. In this first Pastor’s Column of the new year, I would like to share the “Five Directions for the Church in the New Year” that were discussed together with the pastoral leadership team.
Direction 1. Simple Church – A Church Focused on the Essentials
People in our time often feel fatigued by complicated programs and flashy events. Therefore, our church will move toward becoming a simple church that focuses only on the essentials. Rather than feeling, “There are so many things to do at this church,” we want people to sense this message when they come: “This church focuses solely on meeting God and entering into rest.” We will reorganize our ministries so that unnecessary activities are reduced, and so that large-group Sunday worship and small-group cell (mokjang) meetings can be practiced more faithfully according to Scripture. Because the salvation of souls is important, we are also considering starting additional services for VIPs:
Sunday 7:00 p.m. service / Monday 11:00 a.m. service / Monday 7:00 p.m. service
Direction 2. Ministry in the Age of Hyper-Personalization and a Digital Church Utilizing AI
As technology advances, people increasingly seek communities that focus on “me as an individual.” For this reason, we plan to provide personalized discipleship that listens attentively to each person’s life story. Through Sunday morning brunch and Sunday evening dinner, the senior pastor, elders, and church leadership will spend time fellowshipping with church members. If I meet and serve two teams each Sunday—morning and evening—I will serve 8 teams in one month, and 24 teams in three months. With the elders partnering together, we can serve 48 teams. If all stewards participate, that becomes 96 teams. Including myself, we will be able to serve 120 teams over three months. In addition, we will expand our digital church ministry, using Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, and other platforms to introduce the church and help anyone feel a sense of closeness and connection with the church community.
Direction 3. Filling the Spiritual Thirst of Homo Spiritualis (the Spiritual Human Being)
Although people often feel resistance toward religious systems, we live in a time when they are more thirsty than ever for spiritual experiences and inner peace. Therefore, the church must provide prayer, meditation, and spiritual formation that can satisfy this spiritual hunger. We need to focus on healing prayer and restoration ministries so that word spreads: When you go to church, wounds of the heart are healed and you gain spiritual peace.” We will offer healing prayer at the altar every Sunday, restore spiritual sensitivity through Wednesday Spiritual Prayer Meetings, and gather the entire church for united prayer through Saturday Miracle Early Morning Prayer as we prepare for cell meetings and Sunday worship. Through weekday Zoom Miracle Early Morning Prayer, we will help people experience that miracles become normal and that early morning prayer can transform one’s life.
Direction 4. Building a ‘Mutual Care Community
Although cell groups are family churches, in today’s context they must also become places that address loneliness and serve as training grounds for making disciples. From this year onward, we will strive to build cells that are “more like family than family” and true spiritual fields of care. We will create an environment where people suffering from depression, anxiety, or isolation can safely share their inner struggles and receive support. Going forward, participants in cell meetings will be asked to agree to confidentiality, so that everyone can truly feel cared for and protected.
Direction 5. Building a Community of Authenticity Based on Social Trust
We desire to become a community that transforms the world not with a gospel spoken only in words, but with a gospel proven through life. By analyzing the local Sydney community in which we live, we will reorganize our ministries to focus on areas where our community is called to serve. Until people in our region say, “Sydney Saesaengmyeong Church is essential to our community!”, we will continue to build an evangelical church and focus on restoring the New Testament church. From 2026 onward, our church will strive to move smaller, deeper, and simpler. We ask for your partnership and co-laboring with us.
